What about Nova Scotia?

If you’re considering eastern Canada, have a look at this recent New York Times real estate feature about the town of Lunenberg, Nova Scotia.

Located about 50 miles (90 km) southwest of Halifax, Lunenberg and its surrounding communities apparently have an active second home market. Lunenberg’s “Old Town” was also named a protected UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995.

According to the Times article, basic summer cottages in the area start at $150,000 Canadian dollars (US$135,000), but elaborate waterfront properties run CAD$1 to 2 million.

The sailing, as they say, is priceless.
