Quebec jam img_1299Quick: when you think of the top “foodie” countries for expats, do you think of Canada?

Apparently, Britain’s Telegraph does.

Based on findings from the HSBC Expat Explorer Survey, the Telegraph created an  “Expat foodie heaven” picture gallery, in which Canada ranked No. 3.

Canada scored just behind such well-known eating destinations as France and Japan.

Canada’s high ranking comes in part from its variety of dishes. As the Telegraph writes:

Canadian cuisine includes a huge range of foods. Traditional dishes vary from British Columbia (salmon and wild rice) to Newfoundland (cod cakes and fish cheeks), to Native dishes (maple sugar pie) to French Canadian Foods (tortière, yellow pea soup).

Here’s the full list of Top 14 Expat Foodie Heaven destinations:

  1. France
  2. Japan
  3. Canada
  4. Thailand
  5. Brazil
  6. Spain
  7. Malaysia
  8. Australia
  9. Belgium
  10. South Africa
  11. Germany
  12. Singapore
  13. USA
  14. Vietnam

The same HSBC survey ranked Canada the best place in the world to live — so perhaps it’s no surprise that expats who are happy in Canada are also happy with Canadian cuisine.
